About Dr. Scott

Neal Scott, MD, PhD is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. He offers a full range of cardiovascular care at Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists in Mountain View, California. 

Dr. Scott received his bachelor of science from Stanford University in Stanford, California, then went on to earn his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. While in medical school, he also attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a PhD in neural and endocrine regulation.

Dr. Scott finished an internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology at Stanford University and an advanced fellowship in coronary interventions at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his training, Dr. Scott joined the academic faculty at Emory University, where he taught, practiced clinical medicine, and performed basic and clinical research.  He also patented a number of innovative catheters.


Since 1998, Dr. Scott’s career has followed an exceptional path, combining clinical care for patients with the development of innovative technology at private companies. Dr. Scott was a founder of a catheter company that was later acquired by Medtronic, Inc.  He also founded Medluminal Systems, where he developed drug delivery catheters for coronary and peripheral vascular conditions. His intellectual property for these devices was subsequently acquired by Boston Scientific Corporation. 
Dr. Scott has published over 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and holds more than 20 patents, with 12 issued and the others pending. He maintains active membership in professional organizations such as the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.

Known for his compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Scott devotes time to each patient, listening to their concerns, performing a thorough examination, and teaching them about preventive heart care. He welcomes new and existing patients to Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists.
